Question E4OD OD off light blinks at highway speeds

just got back from a road trip with my 95 PS with E4OD. On the way there yesterday about 80 miles into the trip the OD off light starting blinking. I stopped and checked fluid level, temp, and both were fine. Noticed that the transmission was shifting very hard also. Light only blinked while speeds were above 40 - 50 mph. On the way back today it was fine. Anyone else experinced this??? No clue what happened. Thanks Josh

The OD off light is like a check engine light for the trans, it means there are codes, and problems, with the tranny.

RocknXJ is exactly right. I would head to Auto Zone or the Stealership and get the codes pulled. I would def. not drive to much more. I have heard guys take simple problems and turn them into transmission replacements or rebuilds by driving while that light is flashing. I hope it is a cheap and easy fix for you but don't let it go.

Scanned it at work today, no codes available from transmission, just solenoid status, and other non helpful info. Its been fine ever since so I think the TSB i found is right. It said a number of things causes that, such as torque slippage, internal leakage, low line pressure, etc. I think Ill run it till it blows up then swap in a 5 stick. Thanks for the advice.

Did it again while unloaded, hitched 6000 the the back and it was fine. Think the 20 below weather and super huge trans cooler are letting it run too cool and not expand to operatinf temp.

Also, I did a service on this trans a few weeks before this problem started. Any one know of a good additive for slushboxes?
