Replacing Hood 89 F150

Replacing Hood 89 F150
Been shopping for a paintable (very little rust or dents) before I paint the truck this spring. Finding many at 75. to 100, but most have been through a few New England hail storms. Anyone know a reliable source (honesty re: condition) so I don't run myself all over the state for nothing? Believe 1989 will accept up to a 1994, but I could be wrong. Need to buy locally, as I'd rather see it before I buy it. I live near Hartford. Thanks.

I have checked a few. Actually got a call back from a local yard, but can't get there during the week. ( I work out of state) If I can scoot over there Sat. I will check it out. If not in good condition, I will take you up on your offer. I have a somewhat decent hood (too it off a bronco on there now, but since I will be investing $$$ on a superior paint job, I'd like to start with a hood in better condition. I know I can get an aftermarket one for around 235.-250. but hoping to find one in salvage for around 100.

Hi Jody,
Thanks for your reply. I found one but have not seen it. A local scrapyard specilizing in trucks notified me after I sent them an online message. The trouble is, I cannot get there during the week and they are closed Saturdays. If you are not in a hurry to unload the one you have, I would appreciate the time to scoot over to the scrapyard in a week or so to check its condition. I am painting my truck in the spring and really would like to get one without a lot of rust and dents. Please, if you don't mind, send me an email with the condition of the 88 you have. Send to Frankk54@sbcglobal.net

I have had a couple of offers to provide a hood. One from a local junk yard, and another from a member here, also in CT. I have not rushed to replace it only because I am not taking it in to the body shop until the spring. I am considering every offer but am trying not to put a hood on the truck that will creat more work for the body shop. As it is, they are charging a lot to repair the dents, and surface rust I have now. Does your hood have surface rust or will it be a major repair? The one I have on there now is off a Bronco that must have been caught in a hailstorm. Too many dents to even consider repairing. Also, have you decided on a price yet? Thanks for the reply by the way. This FTE is a great site.
