As the subject line says, I have a 78 F250 Crew Cab, 4x4, short box. When I bought the truck it had the front parking brake cable and the right rear cable only. In order to get the truck safetied I need the two cables. Here is where it gets complicated. The front cable on the truck is 92", the right rear cable that is on the truck is long enough to meet the front cable. Part no's for the front cable show 108", I have purchased the rear left and right cables, and they line up on the first crossmember under the bed, as shown in the Haynes book. The front cable at 108" is about 12" too short to meet with the rear cables when it is mounted and attached to the parking brake pedal assembly in the cab. Does anyone out there have any information at all, concerning these cables? To date I have tried 3 different cables and none seem to fit! Thanks in advance.

 

Does anyone have any idea why; when I put on the left and right rear cables that the parts catalogues say belong on the truck, then put on the front cable that the parts catalogues say belongs on the truck, the front cable is STILL 10-12" too short????? I even had them look up the listing for a F350 with the 155" wheelbase, but it also says the same 108" cable???!!!!
