Finished with my new motor..
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Dec-02 AT 01:06 PM (EST)]I finished installing me newly rebuilt long block 302 a couple weeks ago. I am still in the process of breaking her in so I haven't had the chance to see how well built it is. It is a regular 1985 302 block with silv-o-light pistons, a high torque EFI cam, bored .030 over, semi-ported 86 mustang heads, and a nice paint job. I just threw the paint job in there for kicks... I was wondering if I would gain anything by increasing the gap size of my spark plugs. The motor runs good as it is but I figured since it was built with some semi performance parts it could maybe use a little extra kick. I know I would be better off upgradiing to an MSD ignition but right now isn't the best time for that. What do you guys about regapping the plugs and maybe advancing the timing some?
BTW... I posted some pics of the engine change in my gallery if you want to see how it went. I know it could have been more indepth but hey, I was working!!!

Unfortunately I don't have the information as to what type of Cam was used, but I was assured it was type I wanted. As it turns out the company I bought the long block from is a shady business. The list goes on with the problems I've had just trying to get the motor after I paid them. The worst part was when it got to my house it was shrink wrapped to a crate with no paperwork or anything. Countless calls to the guy who built it trying to get specs and brands of parts used was useless. In the end all I was left with is trust and I just have to except that he built it to the way I wanted. So far so good anyway to say the least. I have put almost 300 miles on it so far and everything seems to be top notch. I'm not heaving in the torque department but as far as 302's go, it's pretty nice. The hedders helped out a lot, running into the custom 3" exhaust, hehe. Like I said, so far so good and I'm not going to knock it until it shows me something different. After all, it feels good, runs great, and is a nice change from the 150K mile motor I had I still am in the pursuit of the specs though, maybe someday he'll get around to honoring the request.
