yeah if its leaking at the pan the only way to correctly fix it is pull the pan which means pulling the motor. i had this problem on my 94 and just cleaned it up really good and jb welded it. but now that the motor is coming out of that soon i will correct it the proper way

I will try the kit to fis the leak

It looks like I will have to give the new repair kit a try. If I am lucky it will correct the leak. Thanks for posting the part number for me, that makes finding the right parts a lot easier. Thanks again for everyones help on this!

My early 99 f250 SD 7.3 sprung its first ever oil leak after 185,000 miles. After calling Ford for the "O" rings, priced at $4.75 each, two required and affter finding out that the engine has to be removed to remove the pan I called International and they have the "O" rings for 56 cents each. The parts person there didn't know of any kit available to repair. After reading several posts, I decided on the fuel tank sealer method. I first found I could tighten the nut on the pan almost a half turn. Took the truck out and ran it...Still leaked. I bought a tube of Quick Seal from Wal-Mart, cleaned up the oil and residue on the nut, sanded the area around the nut and applied the sealer. It's like putty, needs to be kneeded, then applied...sets up fast and can withstand 500 degrees F. It's drying as I write this and will run the truck later today. I'll post the results. If it works the cost was under $5.00 and about 30 minutes of time.
