Ford sells record 912,000 F-Series trucks

In Thursdays USA today, Sec. B (Money), front page, left column: Ford Motor Company said it has sold more trucks in a single year than any maker in history. Ford sold 912,000 F-Series trucks, the best selling vehicle for 23 years, so far this year, topping the record of 911,597 set in 2001.

I also heard on the local Dallas news today, that Ford unveiled their record selling 912,000 Ford F-series truck in San Antonio this week. News report said, "This was in celebration of Ford being the number one, best selling truck in Texas and also to give San Antonio built Toyota pick ups something to think about." 1 out of 8 American families own a pickup and in Texas the ratio is 1 out of 5.

Yeh Ford trucks are rolling out off dealers lots in record numbers. The Ford dealer in my state is one off the biggest in the nation and on Thursday when I was there. It was Chaos. I got a used truck this day but man the new trucks they sold was beyond belief. I counted 40 various 150s and 250s in one line and they had several others scattered throughout the dealership. The salesman said this is one of there biggest sales week off the year and it was only 2 in the afternoon when I left. This number 912,000 is bound to increase as Thursday and Friday were not counted. Ive heard they sell a new F-series truck every 39 secs.. It sure helps to have new and updated models in your line though. One particular month I noticed they sold 100,000 F-series a record for any month ever. On this particular day the salesman told me that there superduty inventory was running low. The interest was huge in these trucks. Those new superduties are a sweet truck. They had a a maroon type color regular cab that was just awesome. Congrats Ford.

Doesn't look like the Titan had much of an affect on sales. Seemed to have stolen more from Chevy and Dodge. Imagine what sales could be once the 6.2 comes out and they have the power to match the great looks.

You could also say the same for the Hemi Ram.

I just heard on the radio today that GM is going to temporarily shut down one of their plants because the inventory is too high. I'm not sure how it fits into the big picture with the Ford sales, but they are obviously getting more customers from somewhere.

Here in NM they are giving 9K cash back to try and sell them, having a very hard time getting them off the lot.

Truck sales update. Just learned that Ford sold 939,511 trucks for calendar year 2004 topping Fords own record of 912,000 set three years ago. An industry record. The last few days off the year Fords showrooms have been busy. Something tells me that GM might have to update there trucks quicker then they thought.

This is just food for thought, and nothing else- GM delivered a little over 975,00 full-size pickups under the Chebbie and GMC nameplates in the same calendar year (surprised?). Last year i somehow remember Ford outselling Chevy/GMC by a few thousand units. Anyway, it was darned close, sooo.....if Ford Trucks are up, GM trucks are up, and Dodge trucks are up, Toyota and Nissan were both up...where did the business come from? In other words, we see the winners- at who's expense? Passenger cars?
