My 2004 f150 xl reg cab 4.6L Auto has consistently posted mileage of 14-15mpg. Is this the Norm? Any suggestions
on improvements? Also EXCESSIVE brake dust from the
fronts. Not dissapointed with the F150, just concerned.
BTW, This is my 1st F150-all other trucks have been GMC.
Just for comparison, My 2003 GMC EXT CAB V8 auto was getting a consistent 17-18mpg's.

 

Yes, both of these are normal for the new F-150. If you do a search on these subjects, you will find many articles. People seem to be having luck with the Kevlar break pads to get rid of dust. The mileage is normal for these trucks. Sucks, but it's true.

 

Kleen Shields. I put them on all four wheels and could not be happier. I think it was about $70. The stud holes were not exact but a little file work took care of that.
