1994 F-250 Fuel Tank Selector Valve

It appears that my '94 F-250 351 MFI stopped drawing off of my front tank so I'm thinking that it may be the Fuel Tank Selector Valve.

In my research one page tells me I have a "Fuel Tank Selector Valve" but then another page states I have a "Fuel Gas Tank Reservoir Switching Valve" but I can't seem to locate either of them on my truck. I searched the frame and crossovers with no luck.

On one forum on this site I guy was asking the same question but he has a '94 F-350 with a 460 EFI. One reply he got was "There isn't one, the switching is done by routing power the the pump in the selected tank, and check valves in the FDM (fuel delivery module) do the rest."

Now I am totally confused, do I or do I not have one the valves, and if I do which one is it? I see that they sell both of those valves for my truck, or are they just saying they sell them?

This is the correct answer for your truck.

So that's how Ford fixed the problem I had with my '87 that they never could fix. They just removed the valve altogether LOL

I don’t know what problem you had on your ‘87. I had to replace the DFR on my ‘89 because the truck had sat for approximately 9 years and was stuck on the front tank. I installed one from the junkyard and haven’t had a problem with it since. That was 11 or 12 years ago.

The redesign isn’t better. The check valves on the fuel delivery modules go bad causing fuel transfer problems and overflowing gas tanks.

On my '87 it wouldn't switch to the front tank. Had it in the Ford shop, can't remember what I paid them but6 it still didn't work. I just had to use the front take as a huge gas can and syphon it out to the rear tank every time. The reason I did that is I lived out in the country so every time I came into town I would get fuel in both tanks. I stopped driving the '87 about 13 years ago when I got my '94. Just git rid of the '87 last year. Of course the black one is the '87.

In that system, selecting the tank energizes the fuel pump. The fuel flow from that tank moves the valve in the dual function reservoir. It isn’t complicated so who know why they could figure out.

Yeah, beats me.

I wasn't too impressed with that one Ford dealer, other dealers I haven't had any issues with.
