Could somebody please tell me what was the first year Ford made a 4 wheel drive 1 ton dually; and what type of axil did Ford use?
And was this a leaf spring or coil spring setup? Thank you for your time.

I'm not sure the first year they was built, I've seen them different year models If home built or factory, I have no clue. But up front You should find a Dana 60 Til the new body style in 98 then dana 50 up front. 3/4 ton and up will be leaf springs, 1/2's only one coil overs. If the truck was built in the 70's you'll find a dana 70 in the rear and 80-up if not wrong should be strelings. Should give ya around about idea

I don't think there was a 1T Dually 4x4 until the Superduty came out. I just read an article about that, it was either Four Wheeler or Off-Road, either way it was the Feb issue. From 80-86, not even the 1T had a straight axle up front, they were all TTB, although the 250 and 350 had leafs(prone to breakage). It isn't too hard to convert a 4x4 to a dually, definately easier than a dually to 4x4.

Rory,
Check with Kenny, the moderator on the '59 forum. 1959 was the first year Ford did their own 4x4's and he has one so he may be able to answer your question.
