Does anyone know whether or not Ford has a phone number or a website that provides the status of orders that have been placed? Last year I went through the PT Cruiser nightmare, but Chrysler has a number to call to get the status of any order placed. I asked my dealer, and he just said to call him, but I do not completely trust ANY car dealer, and I would like to get the info from the source.

Go back and look again - are they the XLS or the XLT? I'd be willing to bet that the majority are XLS. The XLT has ABS standard, and these are in short supply, which is holding up production of the XLT. I waited over 4 months to take delivery of mine (ordered it on 10/30/00, picked it up from the dealer on 3/6/01; check out the picture of mine under "Production Problems"). There are folks who placed an order with the same dealer before me who haven't received theirs yet.
So unless you want an XLS without ABS you have to place an order. And wait.

I placed my order with the dealer on 3/8, and the order cannot be found in the computer when I check the automated line. If I speak to an analyst, they tell me they cannot help me because I am not the dealer. I spoke to my dealer, and he said everything is fine. I have a natural distrust for auto dealers, but am I being paranoid? I would think the order should be in the system by now. Anyone have any info on this?
