i dont know anything about escapes....i just know that the stock parts like tires and break pads have worn out pretty quick on most ford trucks i have owned and worked on. and if a pad is wearing out quick then by default it is producing more break dust. sounds like the escape used 'cheap" rotors.
It was hard mountain company car miles on the brakes but you are right about the tires. The original Firestones were worn out totally at 26,000 miles. The other 8 company cars I drove the same territory with (Ford, GM and MOPAR) generally had their brakes worn out in under 40,000 miles. The Taurus and Sables had the poorest excuse for a brake rotor of anything I have ever seen.
