How do you remove the dash pad in a 72?
I don't see any screws or bolts. What am I missing?
Thanks.

8-10 sounds about right. they around the edge of the pad on the inside of the dash. pull the glove box and the gauge panel, and you can get to all of them. I believe they are 3/8" stamped steel nuts (light duty cheapo stuff). They might be 7/16", but I think it's 3/8.
A 1/4" ratchet is the tool of choice.

If you are going to just refinish the dash and go without a pad (my preferance) there are grills that fit right into the defroster holes embeded in the dash pad. On my 69 I ripped them out, cleaned them up, painted them along with the metal dash and they plugged into the defroster openings. Looks great.

I agree with the bare dash set-up much cleaner look and actually gives better visual to gauges. I can't recall the size of stamped metal keepers- only that a couple are really hard to access.
