E85 ethonal in '92 f-150 5.0L

Hello all,
if i am to understand you guys right, I probably could run E85 and my computer will correct for the fuel, is that right?
I would really like to start running this if i could. It is about 0.20 gal cheaper than regular unleaded or 10% ethonal blend (which is what i run just about all the time anyway).
thanks for any help you guys can give me.
Micheal

Mike, the computer in your truck will TRY to adjust for the ethanol. The O2 sensors in the newer ( ethanol ready ) trucks have a wider range than your '92 does. The injectors are little bigger as well, so that they can inject more fuel if the computer tells them too. Does that mean that the 92 can't do it ? No it doesn't. Will the computer be able to adjust ENOUGH to run properly on E85 ? I don't know. A tune-up garage might be able to tell you, or ajust your fuel map, to allow it with no trouble at all. But I wouldn't ask the Ford dealer. The dealer's job is to sell you a new E85 truck. How about just trying it and find out for your self ? Wait untill your truck is almost out of gasoline, and then go and put about 5 gallons of E85 into. But keep a couple of 5 gallon gas cans full of gasoline in the bed. If it runs fine, you win. Go home and pour the gasoline from the cans in to your wifes car. If it doesn't seem to like the ethanol, you can at least say that you tried. Then pour the gasoline from the cans into the truck and you'll have a mixture of about 2/3rds gasoline and a few gallons of ethanol. What have you got to lose ? You might want to put on a new fuel filter before you try-the ethanol is a very good cleaner. Let us know how you do. DF
