This afternoon I got a call saying I could come pick up my block which I had boiled, along with new cam bearings and soft plugs installed. Also had the rod and rod caps turned to keep em round as well as had the crank turned .30 mains .20 rods. Tonight I got it back on the engine stand and all masked off for paint. Since the machine shop took all the money I had. I did not have money to go out and buy any engine paint and after searching the garage I found some Chevy orange engine paint. (i Know Gasp) Well the ford motor block dont look to bad Bowtie orange and when you on a budget like me paint is better then no paint ya know? Tommorow I will start putting it all back together. I still have not pulled the straight 6 outta the truck and yesterday we got about an inch of snow so I better get a move on. Any find yourselfs out by my place (cedar falls iowa) and want to drop in and shoot the sheeet your more then welcome too. Might even be able to use a hand or two never know.
If I remeber right, Ford had a deep red for a while as well, but I could be wrong on that. If the rest of the truck were to match, that'll look pretty cool... but I still bet you'll catch a little heck over that color...

I have a 302 in a parts truck that has the deep red. It's fairly clean and looks nice. I'm really a fan of the I6, but hey, if anyone wants to have my spare 302 built / rebuilt for me, I have NO problem with the color (even bowtie orange!)
Ben & Dicks Automotive Company 1225 Comercial Street Waterloo Iowa. The have always done me right in the past if you need any work done as for Curt and tell him that Josh & Kathy sent ya!!
I currently am tossing around 2 ideas for the paint on the truck either black and gold or black and bowtie orange. I figure once i get all the stuff on the motor ya will barley see what color it is anyway.
