69 Dana 60 rear end w/ posi - worth it?

I am posting in this forum and not the differential forum because it is more of an opinion based on the year of the vehicle rather than specifically about the differential. I purchased a 69 f250 for a song, and as it turns out it has a Dana 60 with 4.11 gears and posi. I bought the truck originally to section part of the bedside and for the grille to install on my 68 F100 4x4. My f100 has a 9" rear end (open). Would it be worth it to swap over to the Dana 60? Is it possible to convert the 8 lug to a 5 lug pattern. Thanks for any input.

Thats a bullet-proof axle, and worth some money in the Rock Crawling/Drag racing community. if you known it is in good working order, a conversion might be worthwhile. But, you will pick up some weight with that axle. your current springs may not like it. Converting to the 3/4 ton springs might take some work.

As for the hub conversion. Im sure it's possible. but, I have not seen anything off-the-shelf.

My 2 cent opinion. Sell those parts, lock up the 9" with the gears you want. Or, just find a 9" pumpkin swap, I understand that's pretty easy.

Mosiers can fill and redrill those axles any bolt pattern you want. You will never tear up the 9" so why spend the money on the Dana?

Never say never, I blew my 9in just last month, it was full of oil and every thing, things do wear out eventually, if it were me I wouldn't bother putting in the dana 60, seems like to much work and not really worth it in the end.
