I believe most of these type trucks were custom bodied for application: bread, ice cream, chips, fire departments, etc. so obtaining body parts may be difficult or impossible. Pieces my truck needs, like window molding, flat glass I hope to find at websites or shops that deal with newer vans. I've had no trouble finding engine, clutch and brake parts at independently owned parts house; also had driveshaft work done at heavy truck shop. It's a great machine to work on, and a good storage unit while undergoign resto.

Well, it went from a 1964 to a 1960! Does that make it a P400 still? The VIN# on the reg. says 1314816229. Sounds just like a serial number to me.

It has what looks like a 2.5 ton rear end?

It looks like a Ford nine from the back, but, 2x as large, and two speed since it has the air shifter hose still attached, not that it is hooked up. Six bolt wheels and nine bolt hubs. It is running 17.5 rims right now. Think it is a Ford rear end?

Supposedly has a C-6 and 460, I have to check the block numbers out.

I was wondering about how to get the mundane stuff like wiper motors, steering boxes, etc. If I buy it I want to refurb it and make it a semi-daily driver. Looks pretty ugly with that big long nose, though it might be functional once fixed up.

Yes, big long square type nose, sort of looks like an old German military type truck nose. There is a 3rd headlamp mounted in the middle of the nose.

I am looking at it again tomorrow, I will bring the camera. I think the body is aluminum, no rust on the outside except on the floor area where the spare tire mounts next to the driver's seat. I checked, it is a 460/C-6 combo hooked to a carrier bearing driveshaft.

Other than finding it (and many other classic stepvans) attractive,
I am going to use mine in my housepainting business.
Since I can stand up in it, that means I can use it as a mobile workshop rather than just for transporting.
However, since I am in Austin, Texas where quite a few movies are made these days, I am renting mine out to a movie being made this month that needs to create a 1960s New York City scene. Classic commercial vehicles are less common than classic cars
but just as needed for movie work. I have been careful to keep mine original looking.

That's a cool biz truck. That's also cool about the movie. I had a '65 Riv once and was on a list to be in a movie in Seattle (for awhile they were making lots of movies up here too), but I never got called. Maybe I shoulda had F600 or something!

I am going to either restore it to very nice condition and make it a 4x4 or salvage the 460/c-6/whatever dual rear end it has for my 1971 F-100. I am leaning towards the first. Any guess on the two speed rear end? Here are some pictures:

Hmm, I don't recognize it at all. Is it possible the radiator nosepiece was added by an owner? From the color I think it might have been an Air Force vehicle originally, an enlarged radiator for extreme climates may have been added.

Kinda looks like a Grummon body from the side to me. I can't recall seeing a nose like that or the center light on the right coast.

Yes, it is possible it was added since I am sure it never came with a 460, it has louvers that open and close over the radiator, plus, it has about three types of heater cores stuck around the vehicle. I assume that or they just kept adding them until the truck cooled down enough.

I can't make heads or tails out of most of the stuff. There looks like there is an emergency brake lever to the left of the steering wheel, but, I have not been able to figure out how it works except it gets pulled up.

There is a gas fired hot water heater and some kind of (diesel?) storage tank inside the truck. I assume the stock gas tank is on the driver's side in front of the rear axle.

Looking at the truck I suppose it might look a tad better if I removed the wart from its nose.
