I was born and raised in on the front range, lived in SW CO for a few years, hunt on the western slope, visit relatives on the plains and used to go skiing in the mountains (when it was affordable). I enjoy all portions of CO and do not see moving to another place away from God's Country.

What is your favorite spot? All of CO offers something from Denver to Fort Garland. Sterling to South Fork. Limon to Fruita.

If you are not from here it cannot be described the sight of the sun rising over the adobes, the sun reflecting off of the untouched snow on a field or mountain, the beauty that can be seen from the top of a fourteener or the orange sunset on the front range.

I love travelling to new places and really enjoy the ocean beach, but after a couple of weeks I am always looking for those Rocky Mountains.

That would be hard to say, we have lived here for 18 years and would have to agree that if you haven't experienced it you are missing it.
I might have to say Flat Tops was one of my favorite ATV trips, but htey are all loaded with fun. Any way check my web site for more information if you are interested.

 

favorite spot?? thats a tough one-- ive only been here for about five or six years now and there is just so much that i havent seen yet, i definitely liked snowshoing around cameron pass, and four wheeling anywhere possible, camping and drinkin beer at any high altitude is also fun, but i have to say that hanging lake, glenwood springs, and rocky mountain national park are probably up there too. but then the flat country is fun too, lots of atv potential and lots of wildlife. i mihgt have to say the Mountains, just for the snow,4x4 and campin.......

My favorite place was the then very tiny college town of Leadville and a little scenic spot between Vail & Glenwood where the road runs on one side of the river and the train runs on the other side. I'm sure the canyon if highly commercialized by now (haven't been there since 1976).

350R - you should to put some pict's of the snow covered mountains or the golden aspens in your gallery. Really make me miss it!

I hunted and fised the area west of Rand for years and like it alot. Area 17 on the hunting maps. I moved to Trinidad and am looking forward to exploring some new areas.

 

You'll have to check out my gallery pics. I've got a couple shots from Eastern Portal/Rollins Pass and one from Pickle Gulch. If you look closely in the background of the Rollins Pass pics, you'll see some aspens starting to turn.

Getting pics developed right now (and put on CD) from a trail ride last month over Seven Mile Creek trail, from Poudre Canyon over to Red Feather Lakes.

Lots of great wheelin' spots in the Colorado high country.

 

When I went to Mesa State College at Grand Junction, my favorite spot was a state (national?) park not too far from the school. The students called it "Desert". That's where the college kids would go drinking on Thursday nights, plus there were plenty of hiking and 4X4 trails and a public shooting range to boot. My friends and I would shoot up all the text books the school book store wouldn't buy there.

It's definately "Gods Country". Looks like they got the train running in Georgetown now. My sister was out there a few years ago and said they even have small casinos there now.

Thanks for the memories. Maybe someday I'll find out what my mom did with all the photo's we had.

If only I could convince my Fla. born Hubby that "It's not really as cold as he thinks - it's a dry cold".

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Feb-02 AT 01:51 AM (EST)]I live on the Front Range. Little town called Milliken. It's SW of Greeley. I was born in Boulder, and grew up in Longmont. This state is my HOME. 27 years and no reason to leave........ yet.

 

I moved to the Pueblo area in '96. Came from Pennsylvania. I love it here! Even after six years I still stare at the mountains in utter amazement. Just beautiful!

I also love the lack of humidity, and the car culture around here. I see old Corvettes, Mustangs, and Mopars almost every day. Daily drivers! THAT doesn't happen much back east.

I really dig Garden of the Gods. Kinda close to civilization, but very cool nonetheless. I have not explored the state too much. I go to Alamosa alot, but there's not a whole lot there. Great Chinese food at MayWa though, holy crap! Best I ever had!

Seems like every road is a scenic drive. Great for motorcycles and convertibles.

My '73 F250 is my daily driver, but I originally bought it to haul my dirtbike. (Overkill?)


I've been on FTE for awhile, but never ventured outside the '73-'79 conference until this week. Look what I've been missing!

Next time you are venturing about Alamosa head north to the Alligator Farm, then onto the hot springs near Hooper (look real close or else you will miss it). You can go west over Wolf Creek Pass to Durango, north to Silverton, over Red Mountain Pass to Ouray and head up to Grand Junction. You will swear you have been in three different states by the changes in the scenery, all breathtaking. Let me know what you think. FYI - all of the places have ample places to 4 wheel if you are interested. This is an easy two day trip if you can keep your eyes on the road and off the scenery. To enjoy the scenery it takes at least a week.

I've been by the gator farm. Never stopped in though. I took one of them "Gun Barrel" roads back into Salida. I'll take the very long way one of these days. My truck is a 4X2, but my dirtbike fits in the back!

I used to drive over Wolf Creek before it "had all them dang lanes on it"


I remember coming down the west side only to find out it was closed due to snow. Good thing I didn't know that when I started on the other side (South Fork)in a rear wheel drive car.

Take your bike up to Silverton in the summer. You can ride up Mt Kendall or take a trips to all of the ghost towns. Be careful though, you may never want to come back to the "flatlands".
