International selling Scout name to Jeep
The latest issue of Automobile Magazine has an article that says International is selling the Scout name to Jeep for use on a cute-ute. Anyone heard anything about that? If it's true, it's a heartbreaker. The old Scouts are among the most trail capable 4x4 vehicles ever sold in a factory setup. That name on a softroader is a shame.

I miss the days of Big Jags with RWD and Big straight sixes or V12's...
Unfortunately many name plates are now becoming "soft".
Land Rover is the only 4x4 manufacturer company I know of that hasn't gone "soft" - and that may change with the Range Stormer soon to be released.

From what I've noticed just about every car co. today is moveing towards the road ready compaired to the trail ready, take Jeep for example, they've made the Wrangler longer, I thought longer was bad on an off road/trail rig.
Think, what rig does Ford have that is a superior off-roader??? That Bronco concept, HA, the only trail ready rig would be the Power Wagon IMO, Land Rover is the only company that I can think of that promotes the use of their rigs off road, now they are discontinueing the Discovery line, the same vehicles they sponsored for the yearly jungle treck.
To me the people today are a bunch of brain washed soccer moms so to speak, wheather they are man or woman.

Well, along the same lines as some of the notes, I have now added a Jeep to my garage. OK, actually, it sits outside, but I bought a 94 Wrangler as a trail beater. My 04 Screw just isn't sized for that kind of stuff. If Ford would build the Bronco concept, it would sell. It would be the only real competition for the Wrangler.

The discovery 3 is coming out shortly, and is supposed to be even better off road.
YAY
And it is owned by Ford, so that kinda counts as one for Ford, doesn't it???

It still is made in Brittan, by Land Rover not Ford; Ford was smart to buy them out.
I like the LR because they are a fancy lawyer type vehicle, and yet the company sponsors a back country beat arount push the envelope situation, thats why I like a rover on road looks and off road performance
