Train horn install

I want to install a train horn in my truck. Yes, a train horn.

Any ideas where to mount the tank (23" long x 6 1/2" diameter). I dont want it inside the cab or back in the bed if I can help it. I am hoping to mount the horns under the hood towards the grill, or underneath? On top of the cab is not an option. Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Now there's a bonus...loud enough to be illegal...in which town you are driving through??

Air tanks for horns on a pickup truck??? Elcheapo electric horns from JC Whitney will beat those and you can buy 3-4 different tones to work at the same time to lift the old lady thats in your way out of her seat..or cause a heart attack...

I have had the same problem trying to find a spot to mount my tank on my 97 f150. I ended up going with 2 seperate 2 gallon tanks. Mounted them side by side behind the transfer case and infront of the gas tank. Had to make a special bracket for them.

I also made a bracket for them so I could mount the horns hidden behind the front bumper.

I have yet to find any of the JC whitney horns louder than the set up I have.

And yes Train horns are illegal within the city limits of my city.

Tony, I have to ask....? What in Kansas do you blow all that noise at?? The next question is do you run an air compressor off the engine to charge those tanks or do you fill them daily when you refill the cooler with Pabst???........ I'm just grinding you some... I live in a summer shore town and it's dead now, but a real diesel air type horn would come in real handy between May 30 and labor day..

I refill them when I refill the cooler with bud. lol

I am running a ViAir 459c compressor at 145 PSI. I have the Buel 4 trumpet train horn setup. Those suckers are loud!

I honk them anytime (when police aren't around lol) at Deer, Jaywalkers, drivers that pi** me off or any other time I feel like it! lol

They are a blast! lol most people love them and ask me to do it again. I did find out don't honk them when following elderly people. They tend to slam on the brakes.

I was at McDonalds the other day when Centurion went through the drive-thru and I called him and asked him to hit the horns so my buddy could hear them. It's quite impressive, they can be heard a good way through town.
