I've got an 86 F-250 HD 4x4, T-19, 4.10 gears. It's all original, no rust, factory paint with 155,000+ miles on it. She burns just as much oil as gas, but she kicks butt. Check out my gallery.

 

79 F150, 2wd, 351M, C6, 2.75 gears. 100% stock.

 

I have a 79 f 150 4x4. Just got a pic put in gallery. Pic is over a year old and she is not in as good as shape as the pic. She currently has a different drivers side door that was bright yellow but i got the outside rattle canned white right now. Hopefully be in the bodyshop to be painted in under a month. Unsure of paint but have a few ideas.

 

my daily driver (when it's not being doctored on) is an 84 f-150 4x4, 300-6, t-18 4 spd, 3.55 gears, 30x9.50x15's (i think they're BFGoodrich, don't remember, but they're decent rubber for a used price)...8.8 inch limited slip rear end, IFS front end...she's kinda a teal green with a white mid-stripe and got a sun visor, headache rack, diamond plate tool box and factory grill guard, but gonna git some other goodies...hehehe...

my upgrades that i want to add (in due time) are as follows:

holley 390 4bbl with matching offy intake, efi exhaust manifolds into dual 2 or 2 1/4" pipes down to either a pair of glasspacks or flowmaster 40 series (ain't decided on dual or single chambered if i go with flows), bigger cam, machine work on the head and block, k&n air filter system, zf 5 spd transmission and matching transfer case, either a 9" full posi rear out back, or a dana 60 from a 3/4 or 1 ton, and a solid axle front end with leaf spring suspension up front, 4.10 gearing front and rear, lifted to accomodate at least 33" tires....new paint, etc, custom front/rear bumpers, custom headache rack and side rails....yeah, i got my work cut out for me, but by the time i'm done with the truck, it'll be an effective waste of money, but i'll know just what went into putting the truck together...

Thought maybe this thread would stir up a few more replies than it's getting, Looks like the late 70's and mid 80's are the most common. My personal favorite is the 79 model year for a wheelin truck. I'm kinda partial to the mid 80's though since I also have an 85' F150 MPFI 302 thats been completly rebuilt from paint to motor ect. I'll see If I can get some Pics of it posted. It's not much of a wheeler but it'll run with most factory Mustangs and Firebirds. Only problem is it's worthless in anything less than dry warm weather.

Mine are in my gallery. The 48 is currently down for maintenance/repairs so I'm driving the 88 250 4x4 with a 460 - handles like a sports car and will pass everything but the next conoco station.

The 86 has an electrical glitch so it's waiting its turn in the garage. Also sitting around here in addition to the gallery rigs you'll find an 92 S10 and a 52 F2. My boys drive 97 and 02 Dodge 3/4 tons with cummins deisel turbos.

I have a 79 150 with a 300. The 300 has offy intake and holley 390 and crane cam. It has 35s with 4 in. lift. I have 460 in a 68 shotbox stepside that I want to rebuild and put in the 79. I need different gears though especially with the 300 in it right now-4.11 would do it.

Like I said before - just another afternoon lookin for some cool smokey burnout pictures. I should have taken some of my wheel well after our little photo shoot since it had a nice RUBBERIZED undercoating, looked alot like snow flakes hanging from my fender liner and mud flap. I wouldn't mind tryin that with the new super duty but I just can't bring myself to it since it would entail alot of power braking which is very hard on components. Also not to mention I don't have an extra set of tires for it and at $170 a piece I have a hard time just meltin them for the he!! of it.

Yeh, it's a fun truck, Its's also caused my insurance company to collect a preimium rate (them dang white crown vics just sneek up on a guy), and as long as you can find traction you'll deffinitly turn some heads. When I first finished it (98') I was always racing pickups but found I never really had a good close race untill I raced a buddies 99' Camaro 6 speed, he got me off the line but before we ran through the quarter I ended up a little more than a bumper ahead. I think his wider tires and better weight transfer helped a bit off of the line. Traction bars and a set of bilstein shocks made a hudge difference in the traction department. You can still do a standing burnout at will but with a little throttle control a real good launch can be acheived, just have to drill it into to your mind not to mash the pedal to the floor, You need to launch around 3200 rpm and about 3/4 throttle to keep from doing the dreaded 1/8 mile burnout if ya know what I mean.

 

I just picked up a 79 f150 about a month ago. It's a 4x4 with a 300, np435, 205 tcase, 9 inch rear, and dana 44 front end. I paid $600 for it, and the bed is falling off.
So far it is bone stock, but that won't last...
