borg warner t5
#2
Oh ya I guess a little more info might help. It has a 5spd in it right now however I'm not sure what type it is and the truck is miles away from me because the old man is using it until he gets his new desiel. The reason I ask this is because I would like to use the 5.0 for another project I'm working on but I need a T5 tranny in order to put it together. can anyone please tell me if they will go together or not?

really okay I need some schooling here if you people dont mind.
first sorry my bad I posted up in the wrong spot
second isnt a borg warner T5 tranny made for 5.0l mustangs? I thought they came equipped with these in the early 90's. The reason why is when I searched for info on them all I could find is info about mustangs. The conversion kit I'm looking for to adapt a Toyota T-case can either be done with a T5 or a C4. If the t5 is to week then I'm going to have to aproch this totally different way and mabey go with an older 5.0

The T-5 was behind several 5.0 mustangs...it's rated at 330ft-lbs of torque. However, the gearing on it, is not appropriate for a much heavier pickup, and the extra weight of the pickup puts added strain on the transmission....something the T-5 was not designed to handle. You can probably get it in there...but...it's not something people really do.
