71 Ranchero GT Taillight Question

Hi all, I'm a new user and the new proud owner of a 71 Ranchero GT originally purchased brand new by my grandfather. It has always been in my family, but it has been wasting away in the elements for the last 13 years or so. Still, it's in pretty good shape, and it's going to be my daily driver when I'm done.

So I'll have lots of questions that I hope you guys can answer, starting with this one. I want to know if you have to replace the entire taillight assembly if the lens is broken, or can you just get a replacement lens? I've been looking for a couple of weeks now, and these taillights seem very difficult to obtain. The bezel is ok on the one i have now, not perfect but ok, but the lens is really busted.

Thanks in advance,
Cevin

I have a 74 turned into a 72, so I'm not all that familiar with 71's, but I checked in my Dearborn Classics catalog, and they make replacement lenses up to 69, so as far as I know, you're out of luck for a repro part. I'd have to say that E-bay is your best bet, or if you happen to stumble upon one in a junkyard. Don't take this as definite, just my opinion.

Keep your eye out for Torino wgns. I beleive they have the same tailights. The full size ford wgns are most likely different, but you can check them also.
The Torino wgns are scarce now. There was one here about 2 years ago and found it's way to the boneyard that is very quick to bale cars. Man it looked worth saving and rare finds these days.
Yes ebay may help>

Try going here and asking. There is a wealth of Ranchero info and many parts cars around the forum.

Thanks for the input guys. I still need the passenger taillight, but Rancheroracer was nice enough to help me locate a driver's side light, which I also needed. I'll keep checking around and maybe I'll get lucky.
