Best 2.3 to convert to propane????

It has been years since I worked on a 2.3 and was wondering what year/type 2.3 would be best for converting to full time propane. I will be using 11 or 12 to 1 pistions to take advantage of the 108 octane rating of propane but everything else will be stock. I wil use this engine for commuting about 150mi. per day and will probably put it in an early Ranger with a 5 speed. Also what trans/year is best? I am starting from scratch and havent bought anything yet and will base my purchases on what you guys tell me.Thanks for any help you can give.
