PSD Value?
I know that this may not relate to the forum, but I ran across a '97 PSD truck today for sale. Can anyone direct me to where I can find a fairly accurate value of the truck?? It is a '97 4X4 XLT, extended cab, short bed PSD, 5 speed w/ 170K mileage. The guy just bought a new F-250 crew cab and figured he could sell his old truck for more vs the trade in price the dealer would give him. The body is in great condition with not rust dents, just minor gravel nicks and scratches. The interior is clean, all power options work, good tires, and the engine sounds good with no noticable leaks, I am interested in buying it, just having trouble putting a value on it. Thanks!!

In August of 03, I bought my 02 with 90k miles on it and it was in immaculate condition. Truck was never smoked in and had only been on the ground 17 months and almost still had the new truck smell. Bought it outright from a Ford dealer for $23K...felt like I stole it
Now my 03 that I traded my 99 V-10 in on....well thats a whole different ballgame! Truck was 12 months old and the same guy owned it that was the previous owner of my 02. It had 56k miles. The same dealer had it priced at $32k ...traded for $16,500 difference. I know I gave tooooo much, but I wanted this particular truck as I felt that it being owned by the same guy as my first one and it being soooo good, I'd give more just to get it. Then too, do you suppose the dealer remembered the first deal?

Look at autotrader.com for prices in your area, also kbb.com and nada.com. You can also cruise the dealership and used car lots on a Sunday morning and check local going prices, but not have to deal with the pressure. Look through the classifieds in your area. Do all the research you can and use this as ammo for your negotiating. When you get serious, take it to a reputable mechanic and pay the 40/50 bucks to have it looked over. Some garages do this as a free service, expecting your business. It's saved me heartache once. Get as informed as you can regarding these trucks, you'll have it a long time.
