79 Ranchero brake problem
I have just changed my rotors and pads on my 79 ranchero. When i put the pads on however, the caliper barley fits on the rotor making a very nasty sound when driven. I have tried to open up the caliper all the way and it is still very tight. How can i make it so the pads are not putting so much pressure on my rotor? My pedal is also messed up. When pushed it goes all the way to the floor then starts to stop. the pedal does not come up right away and it is very loose. I bleeded my brake fluid and it is still not working properly. What is wrong?

Brakes
Not an unusualy problem as cars get older..
the piston has probably developed a small ridge on the
cups and needs to be cleaned... they do make a spreader or
you could make one yourself, and push the piston all the way in,
then clean around the cup as much a possible, or you could
take the piston out and clean it... But really rebuilt
brake caliper is not very expesive $15-20 I would think...
do both sides..
