04 trucks quieter than 05s?

I read here that Ford deleted some sound insulation on XL/STX/XLT trims for 05 models.

Can anyone who has driven both comment whether there is a noticeable difference?

Wrong...the 05's are the same as the 04's....nothing was taken out. Where ever you read that is not true at all! Who ever said they took insulation out of the 05's is compleatly wrong, the 05's are the same exact as the 04's but rolled over, nothing at all is different with them.

That is just sad.

Maybe there will be an aftermarket mod for this? I guess in the big picture a few extra decibels in the cab isn't that big of a deal, but it sucks that I'm shopping for a truck that has been downgraded from the previous year (there are no Lariats in my future, unfortunately).

If Im not mistaken, sound insulation is now available aftermarket. Even for under the hood. So you may be able to make your truck even quieter than a stock 2004 model. Just my 2 cents.

No problem. In fact now that I think about it I belive the underhood soundproofing is made by dynamat. If I can find a link I'll post it for you.

Go for the Lariat. Trust me it's worth it all the way around. And the package is not "that" much more payment wise. At least think about it.

Toreador, I just priced out the Lariat that I'd want, and it was surprisingly reasonable, plus if I shopped around, I bet there's better discounts on the expensive f150s vs the lower priced trim levels I am currently looking at. Something to think about I guess. We'll see how much of a down payment I can build up by end of January. I wonder if the moderator would let me change my user name to Scott_Lariat?
