I am looking at installing the cab lites on my 01 SD. I contacted FordParts.com for wiring parts and lites and when they emailed me back they told me these parts where for a vehicle without the overhead console. I HAVE the overhead console. Now my question is, anyone have both? Why can't it work? And is there a way around it?

 

Sure! I did my '00 and my buddies '04 but I just bought the lights and a spool of wire and some crimp fittings did it manually. No harness or factory plugs just bulk lights, wire and crimp fittings. My buddies mom had hers installed by the dealer on her '04 so I would say what you want is available.

 

yes did mine on 2000 f250. taped right into the light switch no leaks no problems. did go to ford and measured the spacing on a lot truck. so i had that part right

 

Thanks guys. I will proceed from there. I plan on going with a few more than the standard 5. A lot like I had on my Pete, 9 lites just lite up the hood so nice .

 

Are cab clearance lights functional? Don't get nasty, I am a beginner. I am interested in a 2005 SD F250 and thought the looks of them were horrible. It's like the DRWs, I am just a city boy I guess who wants to go country and have a big mean looking truck.

 

howardlj: Are cab lights functional, I would say so! When you are coming down the road at night, people will know its a truck!! I personally like them myself, but as a otr truck driver I like all the chrome and lights that will fit on the truck. Its really a personal choice as some people like their rides all lit up and some don't. So if they don't look good to you, I would'nt order them on your truck!

if you want a mean looking truck..i would say get them....nothing says im cool like cab clearance lights...my 02 cents though..

 

i just had them put on aftermarket but got the harness and lights from the dealer, wow do they look great, i am all about lights so i love them. it just draws your attention to any truck that has them!

 

I love the cab lights on SD's. I have had them on both my SD's; my 00 and now my 04. And I DO have the overhead console too.
