What oil to get

Since we do get some cold temps in IL I was wondering what oil to get 15w40 or 10w40. I was thinking about the rotella T because that looks like the easiest oil to get unless you guys have other suggestions.

Oil

Rotella should be a solid choice for a diesel hands down. I would go with the 10 / 40 in a diesel application in this part of the country.

Rotella is a good oil choice.I have changed oil on a few powerstrokes and I think they called for 15w40 on the oil fill caps.

I run 15W40 Rotella T in all our trucks. When it's cold you can run 10W30 Rotella T......but I've never found that at any stores (like Wal-mart, Auto Zone or Farm and Fleet), just oil supply places. So, I mostly just run 15W40 Rotella T year round.
Although, Ford Dealers might have 10W30 Diesel rated oil....I can't remember for sure though.

I go to SAM"S Club and buy the Rotella T 15W 40W, It's only about $35.00 for a case which is 6 gallons...It comes to about $1.46 per quart.

I use Pennzoil 10W30 in my pickups. None of them are diesels, though.

Oil distribution places can get Rotella T 10W30, Chevron Dello 400 15W40 or 10W30....most likely Mobil Delvac 1300 as well.
I've bought from Lube Oils Inc. before....sort of far from you though being as they are in gurnee.

What oil are you looking to get?

truck stops carry the 3 types of diesel oil listed by DCSpecial ....
they run specials too at times .... just look for a Flying J , Pilot , TravelAmerica or any other fuel stop that caters to us "over the roaders" ...

I run the 15/40 year round 'cause my girl doesn't get shut off when it gets cold ...she just idles with the "Big trucks" ...
