hitch mount 600/6,0000

I have a tow package group on my FX4 04 (373s LS).

I am looking for something strong hitch mount more than 600 tongue/6,000lbs and i seem cant find any above 600/6000.

Dont you guys think 600/6000 hitch mount will hold up 8,000lbs camp trailer or trailer w/ car on it???

I m new with this stuff..

Thanks!

Northern tool has a rubber shock unit rated at 1000 and 10,000 for around $60.00. I bought one for my FX4.

My buddy tows a tractor alot and he got a rubber shock thingy for this hitch. It absorbs the impact of the trailer when you hit the brakes. It makes a heck of a difference. Much better.

http://www.hitchsolutions.com/alumistinger.html or hit Ebay and plug in Alumistinger... Their rated at 13,000lbs and 2000lbs tougne weight... No rust, no grease and they look great...

About the hitch Ford uses.... I just towed a buddy's 29ft Boston Whaler Outrage with my 04 150. 10-11,000lbs easy... Up and down the ramp 6 times fitting the boat to the new triple axle trailer and getting the tougne weight to about 800lbs.. The trailer was bought just to move the boat from the ramp to his house and back again...1/2 mile.... We ordered the 10,500lb trailer without brakes. I had to tow it to the Merc dealer today about 3 miles away.

Severly overloaded for trailer weight the F150 handled it no problem. Granted I was only ever up to 40mph on a deserted road, but it didn't do a bad job stopping the load when I tested it. Not that I would ever try pulling/stopping a load like that for any serious distance I was suprised the 150 handled it like it did....and I've towed boats for a living with a 84 F250HD with a 460. These new F150's with the stiffer frame, bigger brakes and the healthy engine has all gut's that 250 had..

Ford's tow package hitch is rated 5000/500lbs with a straight hook up... At one point when we were trying different positions on the trailer for the boat I had over 1500lbs of tougne weight on the truck and that didn't put it all the way down on the pins. Anyway it didn't bother the hitch itself at all. The hitch they use is lots tougher than they rate it for...

I've got pictures of the whole deal....if someone can explain to me how to post them on this board??
