Question Moonroof - Problems?

I am looking into ordering a 2005 Lariat and would love to have the moonrroof option. Great look and you don't get that unsightly plastic hardware. Has anyone experienced or heard of any issues with leaks or other problems with the Lariat moonroof (factory install)??

I'm just getting in from a rainstorm and have had several since the truck. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL...Unless I open it. Then I get really wet.

OK... Mental note, don't leave moonroof open when it is raining. I think that is acceptable.

Power moon roof leak

I have had 4 Ford trucks with the powermoon roofs and have never had any problems.
Order it and you will not be sorry.
There is hardly any wind noise (city or highway) and its great for cruising on a warm night.

No issues yet with mine. I think they are much better these days than in previous years.

had mine for a year now and no leaks, however the wind deflector in front if rattled at highway speeds, feels like its going to rip the top off. But I wouldnt do without it (the moonroof that is). Must really come in handy there in Hilo ay Monsta!!!

Experienced wind noise with mine. Dealer fixed it right the first time. No leaks, no noise. Just don't open it after a rain if the truck has been parked. The water in the roof channels gives a great impression of Niagara Falss for a few seconds if the roof has not dried.

Is this a Ford OEM wind deflector, or an aftermarket? I have read that this is an issue with aftermarket (improper design).

Its Fords factory deflector. I was traveling on the highway over the summer and hit a bump and thought my roof was coming off. I pulled down the deflector and released it, being it is spring loaded, and duplicated the event. scared the crap outta me at first.

I have a 04 FX4 with a sunroof and it's great. No leaks or wind when closed. The only problem I've found is while cruzing with it open at 80+ you need to crack a window or you'll get the vibration of a lifetime. It feels like your inside a subwoofer.

A small price to pay for a great option.

The only time mine leaks is when I drive it through the car wash. Its not the water jets that make it leak, but that humungus air blower that can blow water past the seals. You learn to keep "light blocker" thingy closed if you don't want to get wet.

No leaks with my Lariat moon roof. And we've had record-setting rain totals this year!

No leaks on my '03 King Ranch w/the moonroof. Only problem I've has is the little piece of foam tape they put on the wind deflector came loose, causing a rattle when the moonroof is closed. Got some foam tape, put on a new piece and all is well!

they all do that with all the air comming and the windows are closed. you can imagine the air flow and pressure at high speeds. i do that in my bmw on freeways when everyones sleeping, gets them jumping.
