hi, i just recently bought a 1985 F-250. ive had problems getting it started without useing some kind of quick start spray. so i decided to rebuild the carb and replace a few other things. now i cant even get it started. the main problem is the rebuild kit the auto parts store sold me didnt have the right gaskets and stuff for my carb so i had to use some RTV sealant. im guessing this might have gummed something up in the carb. i really dont want to put any more money into this old outdated carb and i was just wondering if its possible to buy an aftermarket edelbrock or holley carb for 4.9L inline 6. the one i have on there now is a 1 barrel carter, also from what i can tell its missing a few peices. any help would be greatly appreciated

 

I don't know of any aftermarket performance 1bbls. I would just go to AutoZone or somewhere like that and purchase a rebuilt one.

 

well, id like to get a 2 or 4 barrel carb if possible, anythings gota be better than what ive got now.
