URGENT!!! 88 bronci ii windshield wiper motor maybe?
Hey guys,
just purchased a bronco and started drving it and it started to rain. I flicked on the windshield wipers but nothing happened. Today i went down to the wreaker and i got a motor for it. before i installed it i checked the fuse and of course it was one of those big silver things, i took it out and tried to washer fluid jets they were working then i put the fuse back in and they are working. I'm guessing the wiper motor is on the same fuse? Anyways... they didnt work but when i turned the wipers on i heard a clicking clicking clicking noise from below the steering wheel. I got under the dash and pinpointed that the clicking noise was coming from a little black box attached to maybe a half inch piece of round metal. Now i'm at a standstill and not sure what to do. I hooked up the other motor to the cable and put the ground on without actualy installing it, just to see if that was it and it didnt do anything either. I'm guessing that the original W/ Motor was good. Any ideas..?
Also i just tried putting it in four by four and when i make a sharp turn i can feel the tires in the front kinda jump. is that normal? just a question.
If you have no wipers at all check for power at the red going to the switch, no power check the fuse. If you have power there check for power at the motor, db/o wire, wipers set on hi, no power bad switch. Power there bad motor.

hey,
well senced no one answerd until you, i took it to my mechanic buddy at work and he fixed it, he rebuilt the governor, should of replaced it he said but this will work too.
Hello. First, yes it is normal for that jumping or jerky feeling to occure while turning in 4x4 but you will notice it more so when you do it on paved roads or other hard surface because you are getting a little more traction on those surfaces but it will be alot less noticable on wet or slippery ground as the tires will give a little more.
Do you have the delayed timer option...If you do then check the little black box. It's under the driver side dash just above the kick plate. My 86 B2 looked fine, until I removed the box. The underneath was rusted away, I flaked off the scale and applied some silicone grease to the screws...works like a charm.
On 4X4 vehicles the front will buck and chunk when you turn on a hard surface, so try not to do this too much. If you want to test the 4X4 take it into some grass. more fun that way...
