1999 Hub/Bearings vs. 1999.5 Hub/Bearing

I have a pre March 1999 SD F-250 4x4 with a loose LF bearing. Can I put the newer hubs from 1999.5 on my truck? I would like to get the rotors that are less prone to warping. Just need to know if the newer hub will bolt up. Or if there is a good place to get a SD style Dana 60 I would do, since i think Eaton has an Elocker that fits the Dana 60??

Yep, they'll work. Just make sure you get the newer designed rotor to go with it.

When my bearings went bad on my 8/98 build date truck I switched to the newer designed hubs and rotors. Only place you can buy the pre march 99 hub assemblies is threw the Ford dealer and they want so much $ for them you can get the newer aftermarket hubs and rotors for the same price as just the old hubs. The only difference between the old design and the new is the plate that the lugs are pressed into on the hub assemblies. As I recall the old design has a 10 mm thick plate and the new ones are 13mm thick. When they did that it moved the rotors out 3mm so they had to design new rotors and make the hat of the rotors 3mm deeper to move it back.

Anytime. They didn't have the kit at the time but if I ever have to do it again, I'd probably go with the new dyna trac kit. IMO the ford design isn't very good. Too many seals to go bad with the auto lock hubs which is what destroyed mine after it sucked in a bunch of water.

Yea I hear ya. I like the new kit but its a little pricey when I can buy two new bearings for $500 and get another 100k out of them. Well maybe $700 with the new rotors. Thats 1/2 price.

Replacement bearings for front hubs pre '99 f250 sd

Let me tell ya what happened to me. I have a early '99 model F250 SD. I was on the way to N. Carolina and about 30 minutes from my destination the left front bearing started screaming! After going to the ford dealer and falling down with sticker shock over the price of a hub assembly, I decided to knock the bearings out and see if I could find a replacement.(something the dealer said was impossible).I actually found bearings at Advance Auto parts. I know, I couldn't beleive it either. Anyway, replaced both sides for less than $15.

I have an early 99 F250, and I have a slight rumble in the driver's side front. Not bad enough that I am worried yet, but wondering if that is the bearing starting to go bad?

Picard: I (and others) would be very interested if you would post some more details or step-by-step on your bearing replacement.

I'm sure we are not talking about the same bearings..even if you could take a hub bearing apart you would have to pay $100.00 a side or so...

I had the box the bearing came in but cant find it a the moment. The part at Advanced was called a spindle bearing. Their Item # was 5052386. It was a small Torrington roller type bearing. For (2) of them with tax was $13.35.
