Transmission Dipstick

one of my trucks had an aftermarket trans dipstick in it, and I think it resulted in the previous owners underfilling the trans. I aquired a dipstick that I think is right, but I wondered if someone with a similar truck could post the part number of their dipstick, and possibly the length. my truck has A/C and the dipstick tube is located up and behind the valve cover, right next to the air injection valve.

my 73 had a 460 /c-6 w/o A/C, and its much lower down by the exhaust manifold. its way too short, and not the style I'm looking for.

the dipstick I have is D5TP-7A020-CA and specifies Type F fluid.

THANKS if you can help.

My 76 has the low style you described, while a buddy's 78 has the longer style. I can get the part numbers off them both on Monday if you need them. What year truck is it?

My 77 has the one that is just behind the head and is down below the top of the top of the valve cover. Is this what you are looking for?

Ok Photos have been added to my gallery. Look under 77 2wd info pics.
My tranny is from a 77 Mark V. There is a picture of the dipstick part #too.
I hope this helps,
Jimmy

AA means first design level of the D7AP-7A020
CA means the 78th design level of D5TP-7A020

This is what I read on a decoder website. True? I can't verify.
