i think dodge went overboard with their v10.ford has it about right.dodge has an oversized fuel hog.ford allows for a solid engine with the 415.it has a good powerbase that can be improved upon throughout it's future.it licks some of the v-8's i've used in the past.

but the 426 Superbirds had it all over the 427 causing Ford to introduce the SOHC and then the Boss.
If Ford would have taken the time to reduce the CD (coefficient drag) of their cars….they could have competed with the Super Birds…..it was all about air!

Pretty sure Ford had a sloped nose vehicle in the Talledaga. Cosmetics aside, I'd bet in the wind tunnel all those cars were pretty dirty.........including the Superbird.

Of course the speed had to do with motors getting smaller but it was the terrible way these vehicles crashed when the air was disturbed.

The '85 small block T-bird of Bill Elliot, I believe, still holds the Super Speedway record of 209 MPH.(?)

The late sixties cars would have been in orbit at that speed! They were just edging 200(uncomfortably I might add) when NASCAR figured they didn't want 4000 pounds of Ford or Dodge reaching the nose bleed seats at Daytona.(I left GM out because they were slow )

As with everything else, drive 'em both and see which one YOU like best.
Just because it won in a drag race doesn't mean its better at towing. Race a titan unloaded and loaded with 2000lbs. What is going to win a v10 or the titan? Titan for sure, but of course that doesnt mean it tows better.

Are you asking me what the HP rating for the 2003 Ford V10 is at 1500rpm? If so, it's rated at 225HP @ 1500rpm. The peak HP is of course 310HP @ 4250rpm. Hope that's what you wanted-if not let me know.

How about making it fair if you want to compare engines-a Titan 4x4 ext cab weighs right at 5000lbs. My Superduty V10 ext cab 4x4 weighs around 6900lbs. If you want to compare the two engines' acceleration (Nissan 5.6L & Ford 6.8L), how about loading an extra 3900lbs on the Titan and 2000lbs on the Superduty to make up for the difference in curb weight? Geez-that's a big difference.

That would make both engines each haul about 9000lbs total weight and I think at that rate the Ford V10 would embarass the oil out of the Nissan 5.6L . Fairs fair.

Ford's V10 makes more torque at 2000rpm that the Nissan V8 makes at it's peak way up at 3600rpm.

This may have been my fault. Sometimes I don't type too clearly.

The Ford V10 beat the Dodge V10 while empty.

The Ford V10 beat the Dodge V10 loaded.

The Ford V10 beat the Dodge V10 pulling.

The Ford traded wins with the GM 8.1 empty.

The GM 8.1 won ALL towing and loaded contests.

Is that more clear?

Pretty sure TRUCK TREND may still have that test on line.

The TRAILER LIFE test was about the same.

BTW Al, How's Peg and the kids? Shoe sales still paying the bills?

Go Polk High!!!
