Can anyone tell me how many catalytic converters came on the 93 Lightning from the factory with the 5.8L 351W engine, I was considering installing full length headers, and I wanted to know how many cats I had to retro into the system. I purchased the truck with no cats installed on it at all, that is why I am asking. Thanks to all in advance.

 

The Lightning had 4 cats since it was true dual exhaust. You don't have to have 4 though. I'd just get 2 high flow cats and call it done. They would likely work just as well as the older style ones.

 

True enough, two after market ones would do the job of four stock ones. But if you are looking to put on cats for an emissions state, you will more than likely need all four.

 

That may be true of CA, but not most others.
