Turbo wont spool up in cold weather and Blows white smoke?
When I went up north to wisconsin for thanksgiving i noticed that my turbo wouldnt spool up when it was very cold outside. in neutral it would bounce from 2300 to 2400 and it sounded like the turbo wanted to spool up but wouldnt and it would just blow out white smoke. Going down the road it would spool up but took alot longer than usual and when It did spool up it would clear up. Now that I am down south in tx it doesent have a problem at all. could the engine just have been to cold? I put cardboard in the radiator and it warmed it up quite a bit but my temp guage is broken so I dont know what the temp was. I would just periodicaly stop and feel the inlet side on the radiator to feel how hot it was and with the radiator mostly blocked off it wasnt very hot. Could the seals on my turbo be bad. I checked the turbo and there isnt any play it. any help would be apreciated thanx

I'm only replying to get out of being a junior/newbie poster. Now I'm guessing that you're a flat lander. Your turbo will "spool up" when a load is put to the motor. Do you have gauges? All things (most obvious) will add up to the original problem. Were you able to drive like normal, did the truck go fast enough to get out of it's own way, does the F'n cold do funny things to everything, etc? Get over it until you get all the factors to make up an intelligent reason of why it does what it does. Now, I'm not punking on you. I've ignored the obvious plenty of times, only to cause me worries in bed when I could be doing something heavenly better. I'm just a spoad.
