Timing and Carb adj. for blower

Do you have just one 750 carb?? Seems a bit light for a 460ci blown motor. I guess if you don't have alot of boost, or don't run it hard it will be okay. Two would be a better bet, as most people I know run a single 750 or 850 on a naturally aspirated 460(be it race or street driven).
I have two 600 Holleys on my blown 390. Works well for 6 lbs of boost. Really mild motor so not a problem of leaning out. When I do start to turn it up I plan on a couple of 750's.
I followed the lead of my friend(who had a blown small block cheby) and purchased a rich/lean gage. I got the Phantom series Autometer, Edelbrock makes one too. Simple installation and gives you a running meter of what mixture is. Helps you dial in carbs with real time information. My gage was $50?, plus $20 for Autozone oxygen sensor. My carbs are actually pretty box stock, with bigger accel squirters. No backfires, no lean out, idles well.
As for timing. Start with stock and adjust from there. Detonation will destroy the motor so keeping it mild will help. You can't always hear it, so be careful. MSD makes a nice timing retard that takes timing out in increments as boost increases. With added combustion pressure it takes less timing to fire and this helps with that. Right now I run a stock '64 dizzy in my motor with NO issues. I keep it sane and don't race it weekly so I think I am okay. If memory serves me right I have about 38 degrees total timing. I would like to save up for the MSD set up. It lets you keep it up on the ragged edge more=more power.
