Driveshaft Hanger Bearing

Driveshaft Hanger Bearing
I have a 78 F150 8' bed Supercab with a C6 and a 460. I need to replace the center support hanger bearing on the driveshaft. I found the part locally for about 16.00 and I'm just looking for some tips or an idea of what to expect.
What is the actual term for this bearing?
Do all the trucks of this generation have split driveshafts or just the 2wd supercabs/crewcabs?
Any input on what to expect? Is the bearing pressed on? I'm assuming the driveshaft has to be seperated somehow to change it? If so, how does it come apart, etc?
Thanks

my bus has two carrier bearings(yes 3 drive shafts) and i put them both on by hand, remove the driveshafts, remove the two bolts on the carrier, put the new carrier in, torque to 50lbs and reinstall the driveshafts....thats the proceedure outlined in my Ford chilton book.
BTW: just crewcabs and supercrews have them, both my single cabs do not.

That bearing is not a real easy thing to replace without a press. There is a collar on the back end of the yoke after the spline passes through the bearing. You will need to knock that collar off of the yoke. Then, the yoke and the collar will slip off of the driveshaft spline. But, to get the bearing off of the spline you will need to find somebody with a press.
Also, while you have things apart, take a good look at the spline that is on the end of the driveshaft. If the blue nylon coating is coming off, you should have the driveshaft spline replaced. When that coating peels away, the yoke has a real sloppy fit on the spline and you will have a lot of driveline vibration.
As for the 2 part driveshafts, I think they were used on all of the manual tranny trucks. My 75 2wd 4 spd supercab had the 2 piece shaft and my 1977 2wd 4spd regular cab has one. My 73 2wd auto has a 1 piece shaft.

It is technically called a center support bearing.
Originally it is a sealed bearing encased in a rubber housing to the metal bracket, what happens is when they run dry on grease it destroy's the bearing usually leaving the collar whalerron is reffering to. To remove the inside bearing collar from the driveshaft take a grinder or whizzer and score a groove in it longway's. With a pair of safety glasses and a BFH hit it a few times and it will spilt apart and come off quite easy. The new bearing can be tapped back on with the correct brass drift punch.
