4.2 Auto W/ DiabloSport Chip

I have a 2002 4.2L Auto. For those of you who have a diablosport chip in your 4.2 Auto, what kind of differences did you feel? did it affect your acceloration for a stop? Did your gas MPG get better or worse? Did your Limiter come off? Let me know guys, im thinking strong about getting one now and i just want to know what i shoud expect. those of you with manual let me know also. Just specifiy auto/Manual.

I would say a Diablo Chip for an automatic is the best you can get. You can definately feel the difference with the chip in an auto...also, you will feel a much firmer shift when flooring it. The speed limiter can be removed on most applications, just tell them at motorhaven you want it removed.

Tom is a local guru in these forums with the Diablo chips as well as Ken. (Ken's the master guru due to the fact that he's the one that will actually program your chip -- sorry Tom) Anyways, Tom dropped 4 tenths of a second off of his 1/4 mile with the chip alone. That's pretty much unheard of is an SCAB Auto Ford with just a chip.

It will run the same unless you specifically tune for 100 octane. You can order the chip with two tunes, one- normal 93 octane for everyday use, and two-a more aggressive 100 octane tune for the track. You just flip the chip to switch back and forth.

I have been wanting to get the Diablo chip since I was a young child, growing up in the wooded area of Mt. Tibudabu.

Anyhow, is the 2 program chip all I need, or should I get the 3 program chip?

I'm getting high flow cats in the next few months, and am thinking about headers. Are these items that the chip would have to be programmed for?

Also, if my truck is white, does that effect the HP or ft-lbs? Or is more of an aerodynamic issue, since the color reflects light and maybe cuts through the atmosphere faster?

p.s. are there any other chips that I should considers, like SCT, JET, or Doritos?

No Diablo, SCT, JET, or Doritos chips for you. Real men who grew up in the wooded areas around Mt. Tibudabu use Buffalo Chips…

Whatever brand of chip you use, you should program for headers

RED is always the fastest!

If you don't have any special needs like dual fuel programming then a 2 stage chip is just fine. Can also do some things with SCT to give lots of power, but at the expense of mileage at WOT.

Exactly what types of things and how much power? Would mpg be affected under normal driving? I don't really mind losing MPG at WOT, isn't that a given? or am i misinterpreting all of this?

Still debating headers, if the price is right i'll get them before i get the chip. How about underdrive pulleys? Is that something i need to have programmed? And what exactly is the benefit of the pulleys?

oh the questions!.....

You don't need a chip to be reprogrammed for Headers. The high flow cats may need it but I think they are ok too. Don't know about UD Pulleys...the benifit of pulleys is hp and torque! DUH!
