Hurricane Horsepower?
i was brousing on the search engines for 2003 ford ranger, 3.0 liter v6, performance upgrades, and i came across this thing called hurricane horsepower. (www.hurricanehorsepower.com). some horsepower computer part that you can set how much more hp you want with a dial or some sort. is this just something they put to steal money from you or is it a real product that works? i haven't heard any consumer reports or anything on it so i am not sure?

I'd avoid it. It looks like one of those "try-and-fool-the-computer-into-advancing-the-timing-and dumping-more-fuel" type of gadgets. I'm still wondering how these things are supposed to alter the O2 sensor feedback to the computer (in fact, they can't and don't) in order to make sure the computer doesn't do what it is programmed to do, which is alter the timing and fuel delivery to get the engine to run as close to factory specs as possible. See the inconsistency here?
IMO, do it the right way and buy a chip. If you intend to make any other mods (exhaust, intake, etc.), then do them first. Then you can inform the chipmaker of your modded setup. That's a proven plan.
