rough idle in 2002 ford ranger 3.0L
I just purchased a 2002 Ranger xlt supercab demonstrator with 3000 miles on it.I've had it a week and don't know alot about v-6 engines.I't seems to idle a little rough....not enough to reduce power, but enough to raise concern with me.Itook it to the dealership to have the oil changed and told them about this problem.A tech told me that it was normal for the engine to fluctuate some and not to worry unless the engine light came on.It also has a growling noise when i get into the gas....but that could be just the type of exhaust......Does anyone have some help on this????I would appreciate it.

Everyones opinion of rough is different, my 2000 3.0 has a very slight roll to it which I feel is acceptable. I would suggest driving another 3.0 Ranger to determine if this is a normal condition, the dealer should let you do this. You can also see if the exhaust sounds is normal at the same time.

No wonder I like my 'vintage' truck.
If I would have bought a 2002 vehicle and I wasn't happy, you had better believe the dealer would be hearing from me!
