new f150 best of the breed

i have been reading about the problems about the new f150. i just don't see it in mine and after 700 miles of parade float towing all around the mtn's of north carolina, i think ford has built a very good light truck. i find that the 3v 5.4 and trans work very well together. the ride and braking is second to none. the mpg averaged 11.5 pulling a float that tipped the scales at 4500 lbs. the truck ran with all gas burners including serveral big block models from both ford and gm. no one in the group had the v10 and there were no dodge trucks being used......umh whats up with the dodge deal. the truck ran very well and held its speed and monentum as well as any with the exception of the 6.0 power stroke and new duramax and the f150 isn't expected to run with the new diesels. i'm sure there are a lemons built, but by and large this f150 may be the best built ford truck to roll off the assembly line.

I'll give a fourth back up to that one. This truck has to be the most well built truck ever. I knew I was going to get one for myself it was jsut a matter of when I wanted to do it, the more and more I read about them the more and more I liked them. I have had absolutely no problems with mine (Black, reg cab xlt 4x4 flareside, 4.6 V-8 auto), I travel interstae on fishing and hunting trips often and I have gotten 20 mpg's, average 17-18 back and forth to work including farm work with it, worst I have gotten is 14 when going door to door in rural areas while working on a local political campaign.

The only problem I have had with it is keeping it clean, or looking clean. Again it's black and I hunt, fish and farm, gravel roads are always under my truck.

Had a couple of problems in the beginning(shudder & brakes), but with a good dealer and a little patience, this is by far the best pickup 1/2 ton out there. Owned trucks by all the major mfg's Japanese included (except Nissan) and this one blows them away. Everyone in my area that I run into feels the same.
Hey Bird, my Tundra was black, beautiful when it was clean, but that only lasted until I pulled it out of the driveway. Went for True Blue FX4 SCREW this time and love it.

I have to agree with you. My standard cab XLT 4X4 5.4 w/3.73 has been great. When I got my silver truck, they had an identical black one beside it but I couldn't stand the thought of keeping the black clean. The Ford silver is better looking than the silver T-100 it replaced and my brother (who runs a body shop) says this silver is easy to match.

Black does suck....but it looks so good brand new and clean.

The FIRST day I had my 04 XLT, I had it in the driveway. I had so big mud splashes on the outside fender...no biggie...well, my 3 y/o son and I were washing my minivan, when I lost track of him for a sec...I looked behind my back as I called and he answered....he had felt compelled to was the dried mud on the black fender with his bare hands dry in SEVERAL circular motions scratching the f#@! outta the clearcoat! I almost lost it, but the little guy thought he was just helpin...gotta love him for it. Now everytime I walk by my front drivers side fender, I think about him!

Try hitting it with a clay bar. Usually takes out small scratches/swirl marks.
