89 EFI 460 with an intake and carb, will it work??

I am currently installing a 460 in one of my 77 4X4 short boxes and need to know if I can remove the EFI intake from a 1989 460 and bolt the intake and carb from my 78 460 on it and go. I have been told that the intake will fit but the engine would run poorly due to the port design (int and exh) were changed for EFI engines. So, first I would like to know if it will physically fit or not and then next I would like to know how "poorly" the engine would run with this set up. I realize I would have to run an electric fuel pump or install the fuel pump excentric on the end of the camshaft of the 89 and use the 78's timing cover. all info is helpful and would really like to hear from anyone who has attempted this. -Ed

I have read that the EFI heads have different angles, and that the ports won't line up properly. Everyone strongly recommends replacing the EFI heads with non EFI heads.
