airbag light on dash coming on, 02 Ranger
For the past few days, my airbag light on the dash has been randomly illuminating. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, if so, what did they do to fix it.
It is not the light above the cupholders that turns off the passenger side airbag either, it is the one on the dash, next to the speedometer. One more question, how do you know if the passenger side airbag is off or on, when I turn the key, i don't notice any difference in the length that the "off" light is on when starting my truck.
Thanks.

Air Bag Light
I just read the post about the air bag light...I had no idea of the flashing. Was wondering what happened to the guy who started this post and what he did to fix it. So if I count the number of flashes you can tell me what the deal is? I just had my whole system replaced due to an accident my youngest son got into...

Well yes and know, it will blink the code and that will give you a good idea of the problem. However after a wreck, the bags and sometimes the control module have to be replaced because it has recorded data and can't be reset....Don't know what happened to the poster.

Code 46 is "driver pretensioner resistance circuit low". The seatbelt has a charge that goes off in an accident and tightens the belt. It may have gone off in the accident or it could be the wiring is unplugged under the seat, as examples. I would have it checked out by the shop that replaced the other items.

Air Bag Light
First off, the light were flashing before they went off...several months before. I had to keep re-scheduling my appointment to have it checked due to heavy work load (Boeing is going nuts right now building new planes). I thought after the accident it would get fixed due to everything being changed. It still flashes and the company that the insurance had fix my front end said they couldn't read the codes. SO if it's what you said maybe I can track it down my self...or blame the accident and see if I can get my insurance company to pay for Ford to check it out

This happens with my truck every once in a while after moving the driver's seat around (the wife moves it up, I move it back, etc.). The connector comes the tiniest bit loose, and the light comes on. It should be clearly visible. Just press it together and restart. If that doesn't do it, dealership.
