Talking My Built 300 I-6

For those interested, the first Pix of my engine that is partially assymbled are viewable in my Gallery.
Found something out the other day when I went to visit my engine @ JMS Racing Engines. The "Olde Man", as the Owner/Founder, Don Johnson is known as @ the shop, has taken a Special enterest in my Project & has taken over completely on building the bleedin' thing.
Talk about frying a my chips when I found out, I'd been talking to him for over an hour & had no idea who he really was & this after he asked if I was the owner of the beastie & he wanted me to come w/ him to take a look @ it & explain some things to me about the assymbly process.
Found out after I got back out front when the "other" Don ask me how it went w/ the "Olde Man"?

Thats a nice looking 300 you have. Sounds like an awesome build up. What truck are you putting this engine into? Glad to see you decided to build up a 300 rather than a V8. Fred

Fred

Thank'ee, a lot of Blood, Sweat & Tears are going onto this build.
The engine is being installed in my '58 Mercury M-100 w/ a H.P & H.D. C-4.
I'm a dyed in the wool I-6 man for as far back as I can remember.
Never have cared for v-8's & never will, one can accomplish more w/ a proper Inliner by far.
Father used to built 300's for his friends for racing of all sorts as a hobby when I was just big enough to hand him the tools to work on them in our Garage.
I'll keep my Gallery up dated as often as practicable.

J.M.S. well be giving me All the New Engine Specs soon & I'll post them when I receive them.
The "Olde Man" stated such & he'll be Dynoing it personally.
It seems that some of the parts were Specially Ordered for my 300 & made to Spec for it.

Cheers

I see...looks like you lucked out...drawing attention from the owner, with your unique request...hopefully it will pay off in the end.

I'll watch for the specs and dyno figures to be posted then. Good luck

"The Olde Man" is a contemporary of & evidently rather good friends w/ AK Miller of Building all types of Ford engines Fame for out right Performance.
From what I understand they have a friendly rivalry on going over who's Engines are better.

Looks like a nice combination I will be building another 300 and also a 223 soon. Have been collecting parts mostly for the 223 first. Was looking for a 262 core and info on building the old Ford sixes does not seem to be much info for the old Ford six engines. Good Luck on the 300 they are a great engine.

Col Flashman has a good reputation on FTE.Col Flashman has a good reputation on FTE.Col Flashman has a good reputation on FTE.
Been through all that w/ attempting to track down a '64 262 Inliner for over four (4) years now.
Got stiffed on three (3) supposed 262's, turned out to be '64 223's, & when I did finally find a real '64 262 It was so badly Siezed w/ Rust they are still soaking it to try & get it apart.
So when JMS came up w/ the 300 block for building I jumped on it, it was after all the first thought I had on doing the rebuild on.

Cheers

Twilight Child is new and has a neutral reputation at this point.
so do you have any numbers on the engine yet, any of the parts being used in it? What exactly are you using it for? Is it going to be a dragster, everyday driver, or both lol. God i wish i could luck out like that. But oh well.
