Oiling mods to 460 are they needed?

For most standard street performance use, no....you dont need to do oil system mods. If your doing a high end race engine and going to a full roller valve train may want to look into doing oil mods.
On my latest engine I did bore the lifter bores and have the larger bores bushed back down to standard size and the bushings have oil restrictor holes in them to restrict the oil flow to the heads. I just dont need the oil running to the heads and creating a oil rain storm for no reason. My block was modified to supply almost all oil flow to the crank/rods because my cam is on roller bearings and does not require much oil, my lifters are Crane solid rollers that have oil feeds channeled to the roller bearings, and the heads have Jessel shaft rockers that do not need much oil. I have 0.030" holes in the bushings to allow some oil to flow to the cam and the heads, but thats it.
Like I said, for most street performance use this is completely not needed. Make sure you mic the lifter bores to be sure that they are not out of spec or you will have low oil pressure and get a terrible oil storm around that crankshaft. If the bores are decent your all set.

Also, dont use a high pressure pump. The stock aftermarket 460 oil pumps are more than adequate. A high pressure pump will only absorbe HP, create heat in your oil, and shear the pin on your dizzy gear. If you tolerance the engine correctly you should be all set with a good aftermarket standard pressure pump.

A couple easy mods
On the block grind around the rear of the lifter valley to eliminate stress risers and aid oil drainback. When heads are mounted check for proper alignment of drain back holes and match as necessary. Drill out the filter to pump passage to 5/8" and radius for better flow. Use a bolt on pickup tube and loctite. Hope this helps.
