Airbag Flashing Code

My airbag symbol is flashing.

It says 27. (Flashes twice, flashes 7 times).

Anyone know what this code means???

Airbag Flashing Code

There are two possible things for a 27, the warning lamp is inoperative or it's shorted.

So there's no chance of the bags popping on their own, and they will still work if I'm in an accident??

If so, I can live with the light flashing for a while.

I believe the system is deactivated due to the fault.

When you say the warning lamp, I assume you mean the light in the Passneger Airbag On/Off Switch.

What is involved in changing this bulb?? I popped the thing open hoping for a 194, but instead I found a LED (I think). It's soldered onto the board.

If it's shorted, what would constitute a short?? Bare wire somewhere touching metal?

And if I fix the problem, will the light automatically quit flashing, or do I need to take it to the Dealership to get it reset?? (I hope not...)

When I said inoperative I meant the circuit is not functioning correctly, you would need to run the pinpoint tests to determine the exact cause. Sorry about the confusion, since it was flashing I didn't think it would be interpreted that way. Below is a listing of the PPT.

Pinpoint Tests — Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)

PINPOINT TEST O: LFC 27/DTC B1884 — PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION (PAD) WARNING LAMP INOPERATIVE
² O1: CHECK FOR A HARD OR INTERMITTENT DTC
² O2: CHECK THE PAD SWITCH WARNING LAMP VOLTAGE
² O3: CHECK CIRCUIT 1113 (YE/LG) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
² O4: CHECK CIRCUIT 1113 (YE/LG) FOR AN OPEN
² O5: CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT FAULT
² O6: CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL DTCS

Pinpoint Tests — Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)

PINPOINT TEST P: LFC 27/DTC B1890 — PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION (PAD) WARNING LAMP SHORT TO BATTERY
² P1: CHECK FOR A HARD OR INTERMITTENT DTC
² P2: CHECK THE PAD SWITCH WARNING LAMP
² P3: CHECK CIRCUIT 1113 (YE/LG) FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY
² P4: CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT FAULT
² P5: CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL DTCS

It a list of the tests that go with the code, some can be done with a meter but you have to be very careful when working on airbags.

Airbag Flashing Code

Just my opinion, but I would take it to the dealer. When it comes to airbags, that's something I don't mess with. And, I really don't think the warning lamp is shorted if it is flashing a code.
