when i have like a full tank, it runs like a charm... and when it gets about down to a quarter tank it it doesnt want to run at all... but then when i shut it off for a couple minutes and start it again it will run good for like 2 minutes... then crappy again... and then when i have like an like less than a quarter tank it runs fine again... and it does this on both tanks.... and it is really pissin me off.... well i hope someone out there has a solution.. thanks

i be upset too if this happened to me...check to see if your float is working properly in your tank..i had the same problem a few years back with my winter beater ford tempo..i hope this would help some

 

Fuel pump. I don't know if your model has it in the tank or out or both, but it sounds like a fuel delivery problem.
Check your spark plugs. If they're burned white that means the motor is running lean. Could be a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump running weak.

I'll put my vote in for a faulty fuel pump. I had a similar problem a few years ago. No one believed that it would be the fuel pump. "They just don't go bad that way". The pump is an electric motor and it has wires. Apparently when it was built the wiring was faulty so sometimes it would conduct electricity and sometimes it wouldn't. It was bad news because I could be out in the "Boonies" and suddenly the engine would sputter and stop. Come back 2 hours later and it would start. Then I could run it a thousand miles before it would happen again (quit again). We changed all kinds of sensors and ignition parts before we finally conceded that it must be the pump. Which it was.
