This has been discussed and beat into the ground a thousand times. Do a search and you will find a lot of good information to make your own decision. I put mine pre turbo in the drivers side exhaust manifold. I also ordered one for after the turbo which I will put on the downpipe.

I would try http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting.php

Next do a search on pyro and EGT. You could also search on "weld or tap" as that thread had some good info on the subject too.

Mine in mounted same as jasfaa's, preturbo, driver's side exhaust manifold. I removed the manifold and then did the drill and tap, but most do it while on the truck without removing the manifold.

Good luck,

Daryl

I have a pic of my probe install in my gallery (pre turbo).. It an easy location to drill and tap, and also close to the firewall to run the lead.. Pre makes for a quicker, more accurate temp reading..

But like the others suggest, do a search read all the info. and make your own decision.. (pre)

I bought a dual guage and installed the left side to the leftside exhaust manifold for pre-turbo and the right side to the pipe for the after turbo. I look to the right side of the guage for shutting the engine off. I installed it on the cloumn over the shifter in a Autometer mount. Doesn't the 05 have a stock EGT? Where is it fed from?
